Nol Card Renewal vs. Pass Renewal
In Dubai, "Renewal" can refer to two different things: extending the 5-year validity of your physical smart card or renewing a 7-day, 30-day, or annual travel pass.
Personal (Blue) cards are eligible for physical renewal, while anonymous Silver and Gold cards must be replaced once the chip expires. This guide covers all scenarios to ensure you avoid fines or gate refusal.
Step 1: Check Your Validity
Before starting, confirm your card status through these channels:
- • Nol Pay App (NFC Scan)
- • RTA Website (Nol Tag ID)
- • Ticket Vending Machines (TVMs)
- • Metro Station Ticket Offices
How to Renew Travel Pass Online
Renewing a travel pass is the most frequent renewal task. You can do this up to 5 days before or after expiry.
RTA Website Method
- 1. Open the RTA Portal and navigate to 'Nol Services'.
- 2. Enter your Nol Card Number or Tag ID.
- 3. Select your Travel Zone (1, 2, or All Zones) and Pass duration.
- 4. Pay via credit/debit card and save the receipt.
- 5. Tap your card at a metro gate after 45 minutes to activate.
Nol Pay App (Instant)
The preferred method for 2026. Log in via UAE Pass, tap 'Renew Pass', pay, and use NFC to write the new pass directly to the chip instantly.
Personal (Blue) Card Renewal
If your physical Blue card is nearing its 5-year expiry, you must apply for a renewal to keep your identity and balance linked.
Required Documents
Valid Emirates ID and a recent passport-sized photo (white background).
Renewal Fees
AED 70 (AED 50 for service + AED 20 added to your card balance).
Concession Renewals
Students, Senior Citizens, and People of Determination must renew their concession profile annually.
- • Students: Upload new enrollment letter
- • Seniors: Automatic via ID (UAE Nationals)
- • PoD: Card link via Sanad/RTA profile
- • Failure to renew switches fare to Adult Standard
